Privacy Policy

Story Time Maker is made by AJW Enterprises LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is kept, and what happens to it when you leave. We built Story Time Maker for parents and families, and we collect only what the product needs to work.
Information we collect
- Account information. If you create an account: your email address, a securely hashed password (we never store your actual password), your plan, and your confirmation at sign-up that you are an adult. You can try the app without an account.
- Stories you create. The story idea you type, the creative settings you choose, and the story text and illustrations we generate from them. If you use a Story Profile, the character names, descriptions and portraits you set up are stored with your account so they can appear in future stories.
- A device identifier. A random identifier created on your device, used for rate limiting, abuse prevention, and to keep track of purchases. When you sign in, this identifier is associated with your account so that purchases made on your device are credited to you.
- Purchase status. Subscriptions and one-time unlocks are processed by Apple (in the iOS app) or Stripe (on the web). We receive purchase status and a receipt record so we can unlock what you paid for. We never see or store your card details.
- Usage information. A small number of product events (for example, that a story was created or unlocked) and the usage counts that enforce plan limits. These are associated with your account when you are signed in, and with the device identifier when you are not. We use them to run the service and understand how the product is used, not to build a profile of you.
- Email we send you. Transactional messages only — password resets and purchase confirmations — sent through our email provider. We do not send marketing email unless you separately opt in.
What we do NOT collect
- No advertising identifiers, no ad tracking, and no sale of personal data — ever.
- No precise location, contacts, or photos.
- No microphone recordings. Where you use voice input, speech is recognised on your device; we receive the resulting text, not the audio.
How stories are made
To create a story, your prompt and settings are processed by our backend and shared with the AI services that generate the content: Anthropic for text, Replicate for illustrations, and Microsoft Azure for narration audio. Each provider receives only the content needed for that step — never your name, email, or account details. Narration is generated from the story's text when you listen. These providers process content under their own policies to fulfil the request.
Where your stories live
When you are signed in, your saved stories and library are stored on our servers (hosted on Cloudflare) so they follow you across devices. If you use the app without an account, your stories stay on your device only; when you later create an account, stories you saved are moved to it. Stories are kept for as long as your account exists, subject to the storage limits of your plan.
Sharing a story
When you share a story, we create a copy that anyone with the link can read. Shared links work for up to one year and then expire. Share only what you are comfortable making public: a shared link is not private, and deleting your account does not remove links you have already shared — they remain readable until they expire.
Children's privacy
Story Time Maker is designed for parents and guardians. Creating an account requires confirming that you are an adult, and purchases are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you choose to include a child's name or details in a story prompt or a Story Profile, that text is used to generate the story and is stored with it under your account — you are in control of what you enter. Story content is age-calibrated, with stricter safety rules for younger audiences, and children should use the app with adult supervision.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen in the app. Deletion is permanent and immediate. It removes your account record, your saved stories and library, and the unlock and purchase records we hold for you.
Some things are not affected by account deletion, and you should know which:
- Subscriptions are not cancelled. A subscription is managed by Apple or Stripe, not by us. Cancel it in your App Store subscription settings or through the Manage subscription option before deleting, or it will continue to bill.
- Links you already shared remain readable until they expire (up to one year), as described above.
- Illustration image files are held in separate storage that is not tied to your email or account. They are not removed at the moment of deletion.
- Apple, Stripe and our subscription processor (RevenueCat) keep their own transaction records under their own policies.
You can also request deletion, or a copy of the data we hold about you, by emailing us at the address below.
Security
Passwords are hashed with industry-standard key derivation (PBKDF2). Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Sign-in attempts are rate-limited to protect accounts, and API keys for the services we use are kept in server-side secrets, never in the app.
